The Leaf That Let Go | A Short Inspirational Story

Letting Go

One day, a woman sat quietly beside a river.

As she watched the water flow, a leaf fell from a tree and landed on the surface.

The leaf did not struggle. It simply let the river carry it away.

The woman noticed that some leaves were caught on rocks and branches. They remained stuck while the river continued to move forward.

As she watched, she understood something important.

Many of us hold on to old worries, mistakes, disappointments, and painful memories. We carry them with us long after they have passed.

Like the leaves caught on the rocks, we sometimes become stuck because we are unable to let go.

But the leaf floating on the river showed a different path.

It trusted the current and continued its journey.

The river does not hold on to yesterday’s leaves.

That is why it keeps flowing.

Life can be the same.

Sometimes peace comes when we stop holding on to what we cannot change and begin moving forward.

The river does not hold on to yesterday’s leaves.

Perhaps peace begins when we learn to do the same.
